The University of Alaska Anchorage can help you get a better a career in the long run, but did you know that you can actually get paid while you go to school?
BethAnn Hoover, the Interim Director of Career Exploaration & Services for UAA and Martha Peck with Alaska Process Industry Careers Consortium stopped by Daybreak to discuss how that’s possible, and other resources available to UAA students. The best part is that services provided are free to students and alumni.
Career Exploration & Services provide internships and resume building skills. In fact, the service has placed about 100 people in internships.
A major service offered is a personality assessment for what career might work for you. The most common service is just getting started on seeking a job. New graduates don’t know where to start, how to translate the skills they have gained in a resume, or how new graduates package themselves appropriately.
A big takeaway, according to Hoover, is that looking for a job, is a full time job. She wants to remind job seekers that you act professionally in every step of the process.
